He is the current head coach for the Los Angeles Kings, and the former head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. Stevens played as a defenseman and was part of the Philadelphia Flyers and Hartford Whalers during his playing career. Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, he grew up in Turkey Point in Norfolk County, Ontario.

Known for his fierce loyalty to both hockey and his family, John is able to convey the skills necessary for commitment, values and the spirit that is required to become a champion.

Stevens played as a defenseman and was part of the Philadelphia Flyers and Hartford Whalers during his playing career. Stevens was forced to retire as a player in 1999 due to a career-ending eye injury, but remained with the Phantoms as an assistant coach.
