Stephen Beaumont

Beer and Food Writer

Stephen Beaumont is one of the world's most authoritative voices on beer today, as well as a widely recognized writer on spirits, food, cocktails and travel. He is the author of five books on beer, co-author of The Beerbistro Cookbook, contributor to a variety of other books, including World's Best Beers: 1000 Unmissable Brews from Portland to Prague, and writer of innumerable articles covering everything from where to get the best beer in America's college towns (for Playboy) to how to match food and spirits (for Wine Enthusiast).

Once described as "beerdom's Brillat-Savarin," Beaumont is nothing if not prolific, vocal and seemingly tireless in his pursuit and endorsement of life's simple liquid pleasures, qualities which in 2009 led to him being honored with the Cheers Magazine "Raising the Bar" award for his "noteworthy and sustained contribution to the world of beverage alcohol."

A beer and beverage specialist for nearly two decades, Beaumont writes for a wide and varied range of magazines and newspapers, including Saveur, Hemispheres, The Globe and Mail, The Malt Advocate, epicurious.com and The Celebrator, as well as hospitality industry magazines Cheers, Flavor & the Menu and Nation's Restaurant News. In total, he authors nine regular columns for eight publications.

When he is not writing about or tasting beer and spirits, Beaumont can frequently be found travelling the world and talking about them, whether at a beer dinner in Atlanta, a tutored tasting in Anchorage, a beer festival in Stockholm or a whisky-pairing dinner in downtown Toronto. Beaumont is also an outspoken advocate of staff training in beer for bars and restaurants, having worked as consultant for a large number of hospitality companies, including Starwood Hotels and Resorts, the Prime Restaurant Group and Walt Disney's ESPN Zone, the last of which was awarded the "Best Chain Beer Program" at the 2009 Cheers Beverage Conference.
